What do we mean by the development of science?At an early age, all children have the capacity and propensity to observe, explore, and discover the world around them (NRC 2012).
Some beliefs on the development of science
- children construct not absorb their knowledge and beliefs about physical and biological phenomena
Infants are "pre-programmed"with some basic knowledge about their world
Starting from infancy children increase their ability to infer cause and effect.As they get into the early childhood stages you might observe increasing differentiation between living and non living and understanding that members of a biological category share many characteristics. As children enter the middle childhood stage children begin to understand the biological entities and internal makeup.
